I am fascinated by the sculptural geometry, lines, curves and reflections in architecture.
Philadelphia, New York, San Francisco, New Orleans, Kansas City, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Paris, Amsterdam and Rotterdam are a few of the cities I've explored.
One of my favorite architects is Frank Gehry. One of his most well known projects is the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain.
I'm thrilled that he was chosen to design the new expansion of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, which broke ground on March 30, 2017. The first results of the project are scheduled to open in 2019, followed by the rest of the renovations in 2020.
Our mother and father raised my sisters and I to be naturalists. We grew up on the edge of an old-growth forest of towering tulip poplar, beech, maple and oak trees. Throughout our childhood there were long walks through the woods, along the creek, with our father, our dogs and cats, identifying birds, trees and plants, checking out the "troll houses", sledding down the steep hills, zig-zagging through the woods, flying above the trees on a very long rope tree swing over Darby Creek, building "forts" in the boulders and even once rode on a home-made raft with an older friend down the creek. My family and I still enjoy exploring nature, hiking, camping, canoeing and kayaking whenever we can. My mother, sisters, daughters and I all enjoy bird-watching and we feed them regularly in our backyards, resulting in lots of great photo opportunities! In addition to the large variety of songbirds, our woods are home to insects, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, deer, foxes, groundhogs, possums, raccoons and other creatures.
I attend Meetups when I can and have met a wide range of photographers of all ages and skill levels.
I came away with a small portfolio of digital portraits after a session in Phoenixville.
This was a great experience and an excellent introduction to studio lighting and working with models.
I highly recommend Meetups of any kind if you are interested in learning new skills and meeting new people.
